Is life better when you’re beautiful?

We all know that love isn’t about looks. Ask a hairless cat or someone’s pet toad. They find love. LOL

Jane Johnson has tried every beauty tip and trick known to woman, but none of them have ever made men notice her.

Until now.

Finally, something is working. She barely recognizes herself in the mirror. Is it her new haircut? Two years of yoga class? Her new eyebrow tweeze? Or is it all that nasty wheat grass juice her sister insisted she drink finally working some kind of magic? Whatever it is, something is transforming Jane from plain to downright beautiful.

For the first time in her life, men are noticing her.

Jane is getting so much attention from men she doesn’t know what to do with it.

Before her inexplicable transformation, she couldn’t get a date to save her life. Now she has a date every night of the week. Gorgeous eligible men are throwing themselves at her. They’re even fighting over her. Actual fist fights to win her affection.

It all seems too good to be true.

The only question on Jane’s mind is whether or not her newfound beauty is going to last or if it’s some cruel trick of fate that will fade away as quickly as it appeared.

Because everybody knows, when something seems too good to be true, it probably is.

***If I Were Beautiful is a saucy romance with a mystical twist that will leave you breathless to find out what happens next. This is book one of a three book series. Book two will release April 2017, Book three, July 2017 (or sooner).

Does Love only come to good looking people?

We all know that love isn’t about looks. Ask a hairless cat or someone’s pet toad. They find love. LOL.

Yeah, yeah. I know we’re talking about romantic love between two people. Romance novel love. Prince Charming love. Last time I checked, Prince Charming was pretty freaking hot, right? Or is there a whole sub-genre of “average guy gets the girl” romance novels I don’t know about? Is there? Maybe there is. I don’t know. But I can’t think of a single romance novel I’ve read that had a guy who wasn’t a 10. Obviously, romance novels are about the fantasy.
My new novel If I Were Beautiful is all about that fantasy.

So, back to your question.

I really do think anyone and everyone can find love in real life if they’re open to it. It’s only when we write up a long list of criteria and expect our potential mate to meet everything on the checklist that we run the risk of never finding love. Or if we expect to find a real life Prince Charming.

But we’re talking about fantasy love, the love that exists between the pages of millions of romance novels.

Jane Johnson, the “every girl” heroine of If I Were Beautiful, isn’t looking for romance novel love. That’s right, is NOT. She’s 29 and has a relationship history with men. Not the best, but she knows real love is out there. She’s not looking for perfect. She’s just looking for a good man. But we want her to find romance novel love, don’t we? Fantasy love. Prince Charming love. I know that’s what I want for Jane. The only question is, how is an average girl like her going to find her Perfect 10 Prince Charming? By turning impossibly beautiful, that’s how.

Everything should turn up roses after that, right?

The whole point of If I Were Beautiful is that, although Jane turns gorgeous, her life blows up in her face. From the moment she wakes up beautiful, problems ensue. Sure, she has gorgeous romance novel men throwing themselves at her: Bad Boy Prince Charming types, Super Rich Prince Charming types, etc. All of them are trying to win her affection like any good Prince Charming should. But that doesn’t mean things go smoothly for Jane. In a word: drama.

Drama, drama, drama.

Who doesn’t want to see hot men fighting over the heroine?

Raise your hand if you do NOT want to see hot men fight over the heroine?
Crickets chirping.
My point exactly.

But that’s only the beginning of Jane’s problems.

Because Jane has suddenly turned beautiful without any rational explanation, and because the Prince Charmings meet her only after she’s already turned gorgeous, she’s constantly afraid they will lose interest in her the second she turns back to normal.

Jane knows she can find love no matter what she looks like.

But can she keep the love of a Prince Charming if she isn’t a Princess Charming herself?

That’s just the tip of the iceberg waiting for you within the pages of If I Were Beautiful. And, because it’s a Devon Hartford romance, you will find a generous helping of snarky banter, sexual tension, and steamy scenes. But those are just bonus.

Buy it for the steam.

Read it for the story.
