SYNOPSIS

The last time I saw my sister was the day before she vanished from my life. I’ve spent the last five years searching for her, clinging to the hope that one day I will find out what happened to her, but every lead has ended up at a dead end.

Until now.

He took me because he thinks I’m Her.

My instinct is to run. I want to fight my way out of there, but I can’t. This man is my only connection to my sister. I’ll do whatever it takes to uncover the truth. Even if it means falling right into the arms of a psychopath.

                          Excerpt

“You’re awake,” he comments. His voice is low and gravelly and it sends a shiver down my spine. There is something familiar about the way he looks at me, but I’ve never seen him before in my life. I’d remember him. I’m sure of it. All I can manage is a nod. As if his question needs a response anyway. He can see that I’m am, in fact, awake.

“Where am I?” I whisper.

My heart begins to pound as panic rushes through me. I pull my arms, hard, snapping the rope back to its full capacity, the coarse strands burning against my skin. I wince in pain. He clicks his tongue, his eyes narrowing as he watches me trying to fight my way free. He’s so calm, like he knows I have no hope, and is enjoying the show. The seriousness of the whole situation begins to sink in.

I have to get out of here. The anguish inside me spirals out of control and within minutes, I’m in full meltdown mode. Any hope I had of remaining calm and level headed has gone out the window. Dear God, I’m going to die.

God knows what this guy plans on doing to me. Everything about this situation screams serial rapist and probably murderer. You don’t have this kind of set up without some kind of serious personality problems. This guy probably spent his childhood strangling kittens and burning ants with a magnifying glass.

Am I his first, or were there other girls before me?

“Jesus, calm down. I’m not going to hurt you,” he mutters. His voice is gruff and low, and the furrow in his brow tells me he’s annoyed, like my reaction is frustrating him. How am I supposed to react to being locked in a basement? Am I supposed to believe that because you’re saying it? Of course you’re going to hurt me. Why else would I be here? I shake the cuffs on my wrists again, willing them off me, tears stinging my eyes.

“Calm down for god’s sake,” he growls again, running his hand through his thick, dark hair. Frustration laces his voice, making me nervous, because I get the feeling I don’t want to piss this guy off. But I already have. I’m sure of it.

He leans forward, swiftly unravelling the restraints from my wrists and ankles. I rub at the tender skin beneath them, and jump as his fingers brush past my own. For a moment I forget my own fears and I find myself drawn to him. There’s something about him that is almost intoxicating. It lasts less than a second before my defences kick back in.

Ted Bundy had charm too.

Forever with me

Impressions of your soul on mine,

Such that it’s sometimes difficult to differentiate,

Whether it’s part of yours or mine.

Impressions of your heart

In mine,

The hollow it left,

Is a crater that refuse to fill.

Even though your not with me,

But your impressions,

Will forever be with me…..

(The Kennedy Boys #4)

By Siobhan Davis

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Age category: upper Young Adult/ New Adult

Release Date: July 2017

BLURB

A second-chance romance from USA Today bestseller Siobhan Davis. Standalone with HEA and no cliffhanger.

Lana: I knew it would end in disaster, but I didn’t listen to reason. I didn’t care. Because I loved him so much. Kalvin Kennedy ruled my heart. Until he destroyed it. Shattered it so completely that I became someone else. Someone I loathed. Someone who repeatedly lied to her loved ones. So, I ran. From him. From myself. Desperate to hide my new reality. But I could only run so far. When he reappears in my life, I’m terrified. Unbelievably scared of facing the consequences of my actions. Never mind that I still love him and want him so badly—there’s too much at stake now. How can I trust him with the biggest secret of all when he’s likely to rip my world apart again?

Kalvin: Lana was always far too good for me. Everyone knew it but her. I tried to stay away, but I was weak. And I hurt her. Crushed her until she barely resembled herself. Forced her to follow a path she would never have willingly chosen. And then she was gone. And my world has never felt as empty, as lonely. She begged me to stay away. Not to find her. To forget she ever existed. But that’s like asking me to slice my heart in two and toss half aside. I’ve never believed in fate, but when I rock up to the University of Florida, I’m ready to eat my words. Because she’s here. Like I hoped she would be. And I’m determined to prove I deserve a second chance.

One tragic night changed sensible, proper Lady Edith Pelton’s life: when her best friend fell to her death, pushed down a flight of stairs by a nefarious lord. Now, Edith dedicates her time to watching the man she thinks is responsible, while gathering information to expose other scoundrels posing as gentlemen of honor about London. When her spying is noticed by a perfect stranger, Edith finds herself with two mysteries—what happened to her friend, and how to win the heart of this brilliantly handsome lord.

What he does not expect is the captivating, fair-haired beauty that literally falls into his path. Can Triston piece together the puzzle in time to save Edith and prove that his love is nothing less than honorable?

REVIEW

The disappearance of Lady Edith was my first historical romance read, so I was pretty excited to read it and I have to admit that my initial excitement was well paid off and this book didn’t disappoint me even a bit.

Lady Edith is a headstrong woman, determined, sensible and brave. She has set out along with her friends to find out whether her childhood friend Tilda’s newly wed husband was responsible for Tilda’s mysterious death on her wedding night. I loved Lady Edith’s character right from the beginning. Her character is really well built and absolutely likeable.

Next coming to the man who stole Lady Edith’s heart. He is Lord Torrington alias Triston, Marquis’ son, tall, handsome and strong. He is good at heart and definitely loved Lady Edith a lot, and didn’t think twice about endangering himself to save Lady Edith. Lord Torrington is another very likeable character.

“He’d wage war against a fire-breathing dragon to make certain she was unharmed. And Triston would lay down his own life to make bloody certain Edith lived a life full of happiness and love.”

The mystery of this book is the disappearance of Lady Edith and not the death of Tilda. Though it was not the mystery that I had expected when I read the blurb but still this mystery hooked me completely. The the last part of the novel totally kept me at the edge of my seat and I could not keep the book down

The romance between Torrington and Edith was sweet but the mystery in this book became a highlight for me rather than the romance.

Though the book has a HEA for the main couple but it doesn’t reveal the person who murdered Tilda, so that’s a cliffhanger. Now, I have to wait for the next installments of The Undaunted Debutantes Series to know more about Tilda’s death. But in spite of the cliffhanger I found The Disappearance of Lady Edith to be quite a enjoyable read.

If you are a fan of historical romance mixed with mystery then you would definitely like The Disappearance of Lady Edith.

EXCERPT

Triston watched Lady Edith as she leaned close and whispered something to Lady Lucianna before nudging the auburn-haired chit to gain her attention, as well.

Their glares still intensely observed Abercorn’s every movement. Did they wait for the man to strike again—in the middle of a crowded ballroom?

If Abercorn were able to get away with killing his young bride, he would not be so foolish as to cause a scene before all of society.

Suddenly, Lady Edith’s stare scanned the room—landing on him.

Prudence tugged at his arm and hissed, “They are watching us, brother. Mayhap they will talk to me.”

The excitement in his sister’s tone was evident; though Triston also sought to speak with the women, or more accurately, one of the women.

Lady Edith owed him answers, and Triston was determined to gain them, even if that meant confronting her in a crowded ballroom.

On Air: Book Review

ON AIR
(Lorem University#1)

By Anna Viola-Peg

Genres: Erotica

SYNOPSIS

A sexy short story exploring the forbidden desire between a teacher and his student.

Maggie is a bright journalism undergraduate who loves writing but hates broadcast. So when the dreadful radio module comes along, she knows she won’t do well – so she spends her lectures fantasizing about the young seminar tutor.

Mr Finian is an exemplary academic, famous for making even the worst of students excel. And when he is faced with Maggie’s shy voice and dislike for his subject, he decides to teach her an unconventional lesson.

Anna Viola-Peg’s debut story ‘On Air’ is nothing but 6000 words of pure hot tension, dominance and a satisfying twist to the famous taboo fantasy.

REVIEW

Having already read and loved the author’s second book Soaking in the Cure, I had pretty high expectations from this book. Though I loved this book a bit less than the second one but still it was a quite enjoyable read.

“I will press this big red button here and from that point on you are not allowed to say anything. Making sounds is fine; I even encourage you to be as loud as you can. We have to build that confidence.”

“If you break this rule…” he paused and something dark passed through his face…

Maggie is a shy girl who loves journalism but only wants to do print stories because she doesn’t like the way she sounded. She had a bit of similarity with me so I felt Maggi’s character to be quite relatable and definitely likeable.

Mr Finian’s character is also good. I loved his unconventional way of teaching.

Been a erotic story it has sex scenes but that is not everything this novel is comprised off. I think that is what I like about this author’s erotic stories, they don’t only have steamy scenes but also have a interesting storyline.

After this book ended I was left wanting for more because I wanted to know a bit more about Mr Finian and Maggie’s relation after that last incident in the story. Though this is not a cliffhanger but I feel that I want a sequel where the relation of this two people will be explored more.

I would like to recommend this book to all erotic short story lovers.

The terrace

Standing at the end of the terrace and wondering at the ability of the vastness that lie below, my brain went back to this time one year before, when everything was in a disarray, all the doors snapping on me one after the other. The door behind me was the only one that didn’t shut on my face, so this the place that I had preferred to come. Jumping off was a thought but never became a deed because the courage needed never embraced me. Finally, I had gone to that same room that had held all the memories of my failure. I had heard the phone buzzing,

“Hello”

“You have been selected Rita, you can join from tomorrow.”

Standing today at the same place, I smiled and then journeyed back to my room, to get ready for my new day ahead.

A window

window to her dreams,

Dreams that she can only see,

Never fulfill.

Those dreams deep residing in her heart,

Can only be there,

Never allowed to breathe,

Because the guard, the fear,

Won’t allow courage to save,

Lest they get crushed.

ON A PALE HORSE

(Revelations Book Four)

BY MONICA CORWIN

SYNOPSIS
And behold a pale horse that carried the name death….
Management of The Underground, a New York club with a reputation for delivering a host of guilty pleasures, could have been a whole lot more fun if Cloris didn’t spend half that time avoiding Hades. Despite the burning attraction to the former God of the Underworld, she still harbors a nagging fear that her advances could rekindle the disturbing experiences of Hel’s hospitality. But when the four horsemen discover that it may be possible to hang up their mantels for good, Cloris is torn between her desire to no longer be a horseman and her hesitation that she could be anything other than death….

Regardless of the scars he gathered from enduring time at the hands of Hel, Hades craves nothing more than to immerse himself in Cloris’s attentions. Frustrated by his inability to convince her that he desires her in every imaginable way, he fears she only sees him as damaged or worthless. But when the horsemen decide to truly embrace mortality, he realizes that he will have to move quickly… or risk losing her forever.

In a race to the end, can Cloris and Hades embrace the love they could possibly share or will their stubbornness doom the horseman to live a life worse than death —remaining horseman forever?

Chills: Book Review

chills cover

CHILLS: A SHORT STORY COLLECTION

by Sahar Sabati

Genre: Suspense, Adult

Release Date: 17 October 2013

SYNOPSIS

The same people are impossibly spotted in two different places at once; a man considers murdering the husband of a woman he loves; while driving home very early in the morning, a driverless car appears out of the fog and follows two sisters home. Fear of the unknown, emotional intensity, and plain old creepiness will give you chills long after you have finished reading the seven stories in this collection.

REVIEW

True to its title, Chills actually gave me chills. All the stories quickened my heart rate and kept me at the edge of my seat.

Each time each story neared its climax, I used to grab whatever is near me to be prepared for the goosebumps that would cover my body and the chills that would run down my spine. And I have to admit it that none of the stories disappointed me in this, because all the stories had shivers running down my back. All the stories successfully scared me and had my heart on the verge of jumping out of its ribcage.

“Not knowing felt, after all, like the worse part of the situation. I slowly leaned down again, peered under the door – and made contact with a pair of startling green eyes.”

The excerpt above is the part of my favourite story from this collection. After reading this story, I am completely assured that these pair of eyes are definitely going to haunt me in my dreams.

All the stories of this collection are unique, and each one is different from the rest. These stories are not only different in the sense of storyline but also in the sense of genre, as some of the stories were supernatural while some were related to crime or criminals and some were mixture of both.

The main characters of each story are really well built and I could relate to them instantly even though some characters were way older than me.

If you’re a fan of scary suspense stories and if you believe that you can keep your heart in your ribcage safely while reading this book then this short story collection is definitely for you.
