I’m unpredictable.
A genius, an underachiever.
I’m the song, the voice, the passion, the pain.
I am failure.
I do music because it’s what I am, but sometimes that’s not enough.
A slave to my nature, I wait for it to show mercy and drop a gift in my lap.
Because the music chose me.
I’m its victim not its gift.

She destroyed my career.
Ruined my life.
Pushed me from the shadows and exposed my lies.
She’s the fire that destroys lesser men,
and now her flames are aimed at me.
She loves to watch me burn,
but the part we never saw coming?

Sometimes it takes a fire to ignite a spark
And slay the darkness.

Welcome to my stop for Limelight Book Blitz. For my stop I am going to review Limelight.

When I picked up this book, I was like, another romance story, same old enemies to lovers story….. But with Limelight, I was wrong. So there is enemies to lovers story but there were so many different elements that actually makes this book stand out from the other books of this genre.

Mila is a blogger, who has millions of followers and whose one post can make or break a musician’s career. Limelight starts off with Mila taking a dig at Jesse and Limelight’s(Jesse’s band) musical career.

Jesse, is such a flawed yet such a beautiful character. I really want to say so much about him, but then again I don’t want to spoil your read. He was character that people will connect well with. After a few pages his pain will became my pain and his happiness mine.

Mila is another awesome character. She is a strong and determined woman. Even though at first she was Jesse’s enemy but latter when things changed, Mila stood by Limelight and Jesse like rock to support them.

Limelight is a beautiful love story. But I think Limelight is more of a story about falling down and standing up again and of finding yourself. Limelight is a story about fighting your demons and coming out victorious.

Enough good things said!! Now just one thing which made me cut 0.5 stars from this 5 star read. I felt the start, I repeat the start of Mila and Jesse’s romance was rushed. I think it transitioned from enemies to lovers way to quickly.

No, wait there is one more good thing left to say. There was this one twist at I think 97% that completely blew my head off and kind of sky rocketed this read from 4 to straight 5 (but gave Limelight 4.5).

This review is never going to end. I think I am in mood to write a lot today, but whatever may be the reason, I have to mention about the songs. Songs written by Jesse were so relatable, as if each song was snippet from his life.

I think the review won’t be complete if I don’t mention one person, who was a side character but glowed like an diamond. He was none other than Parker, Jesse’s brother who stood by him through his ups and downs.

Final words

If you are looking for a romance with a broken flawed hero, which is kind of painful, beautiful and hopeful at the same time then you should definitely give Limelight a chance, you won’t be disappointed.

(4.5 STARS OUT OF 5)

“Gah. This book. THIS BOOK. I can’t remember the last time a book made me ugly cry like Limelight did. A truly incredible story!” – Jamie Schlosser, Author of the Good Guy Series

“Alyson’s writing is gorgeous: passionately poetic; brutally, yet delicately, descriptive; strikingly raw; and insanely sexy. I’m in awe of, and in love with, Limelight…and Alyson.” – Kim Holden, Author of Bright Side

I’m a writer, musician, and cat lover. I also have an alternative music obsession. Seriously, it’s a real problem.

I write what needs to come out, whether it’s pain, tears, or laughter. I write people and relationships, about the beauty and horror of what we do to ourselves and each other. I write Love. Vengeance. Compassion. Cruelty. Trust. Betrayal. Forgiveness. Darkness, and the incredible way humans destroy and heal each other.

I like to eradicate barriers, refusing to be confined by the laws of physics or limitations of reality. I will befriend a vast population of possibilities and introduce them in ways that might surprise you.
