In This Breeze

Lakeshore University #1

By Kathleen Maree

Genre: NA Romance

Release Date: August 24, 2017

A nerd. A quiet art student. A nobody.

Or perhaps, just some girl.

These are the non-spoken titles I was known as since I started at Lake

Shore Uni almost two years ago now. When given the chance to leave my

horrific childhood behind – I didn’t hesitate. In fact, I was

ecstatic to have the door hit me on the ass on my way out of town;

because the only two things I actually loved in my traumatic life…

Were coming with me.

And whilst the three of us shared the same beat-up truck when we moved

here – that’s where the similarities unfortunately end.

Ethan ‘The Mule’ Jones, is kind of a super star on campus. Everywhere

he goes he seems to draw attention. I guess that’s what happens

when you’re headlining papers as the star basketballer for the LS

Eagles. But to me, he’s just Eth. A boy who still spends his Friday

nights snuggled up watching movies with me, and who walks me to

classes just to make sure I get there okay. He is my best friend in

every way, and I can’t imagine my life without him in it.

And then there’s Jase.

The truth is I knew from the moment I met Jase at the local skate park,

when he was smoking a cigarette and teasing Eth for his poor skating

ability, of how fiercely protective he was about those he cared for.

From the time he blew his warm breath over my injured knee, to when

he thankfully intervened on the most horrific day of my life. A day,

that still haunts me when I am alone in the dark.

He saved me.

But Jase has his own demons too. Even if he doesn’t go looking for it,

trouble always seems to find him. Which is why he has been absent

from our lives for the past two years.

Sometimes I wonder what he’s doing.

Quite often I worry if he’s okay.

And I always, always, think about him.

Even though I shouldn’t.

From the earliest age I was a born storyteller.

Ask my parents and they will tell you I had a gift for making a simple

event seem like an elaborate one. Purposely? No. Innocently? Yes. It

was my imaginary world that initially led me to believe I wanted to

be an actor. All of that role playing and living in fantasy… it was

an obvious direction for me. However, becoming quite uncomfortable

with the limelight quickly saw that dream diminish.

Over the years I turned my world of fantasy into stories, and eventually

began writing them down. Before I knew it, ‘Cut’ had been completed.

When I am not busy writing my next story, I am a working mum, housewife

and sometimes hockey wag 🙂 In other words, probably some kind of

circus act who specialises in juggling 😉

I hope you enjoy my blog, where I will be posting thoughts, other books

I am currently reading and even sneak peeks of my novels. I encourage

any feedback, comments or direct messages via my contact page should

anyone wish to get in touch.

I am so thrilled to be sharing my journey and hope you enjoy my stories

as much as I enjoy writing them.

Dream often. Believe always.

SYNOPSIS:

Readers asked for it, and JC Valentine has delivered!

Life has thrown me a few curveballs…

But nothing as sexy or devastating as Alejandro.

I never thought I’d see him again, but fate has seen fit to give us another chance.

Maybe this time we’ll get it right. Maybe this time he’ll stay.

Or perhaps my heart is about to be irrevocably shattered.

One way or another, our lives are about to change.

Only time will tell if it’s for better or worse, but one thing is certain…

Alejandro is a force to be reckoned with…maybe even best to be avoided.

But when it comes to matters of the heart, sometimes there’s no reasoning.

Sometimes…it’s pure instinct.

Taking a chance on him is like playing Russian roulette—it’s dangerous…foolish…and likely to kill me.

But what’s life without a little risk?

EXCERPT

Silence persists, and my heart thunders in my ears as I wait to hear what he has to say next. I feel as though we’re standing on a precipice, and the worst thing is, I have no clue what awaits me on either side of it. No matter which way it goes, I’m going to fall—hard.

“I really missed you,” Alejandro says, and suddenly, it’s as if I can finally breathe again.

That’s it. I can’t stand it anymore. Even the console is too much distance. Taking matters into my own hands, I unsnap my seatbelt, Put the coffee cup on the dashboard, and lean over. Cupping his jaw, I kiss him with everything I’ve got. He needs to know how much I missed him, too, and no words would ever do it justice. Instead, I show him.

With him holding the back of my head and me holding his face, we throw ourselves into the kiss. Between us, our fingers twine together on the console…but it just doesn’t feel close enough.

I allow my hand to roam down to his neck, feeling the corded muscles, his rapid pulse beating against my palm, then I move lower to his chest, his waist, around to his back. I grip his shirt tight, fighting the need to pull him closer.

He’s not fairing any better. Transferring his hand to my thigh, Alejandro curls his fingers under my knee and hitches my leg up. I know what he wants. It’s the same thing I want. Maybe more.

Briefly, I consider telling him no, but I can’t bring myself to do that. There’s no denying him. “Come here,” he murmurs against my mouth as he tugs me to him, guiding the way.

In the back of my head a voice screams that we’re going to get caught, but I’m already climbing into his lap, bracketing his legs with my own as he pushes the seat as far back as it will go to make room.

My ass hits the horn, and it blares into the quiet morning. We both glance up and around, as if two teenagers about to get caught. But it’s just us. I grin then pull him back to me for another kiss. I can’t get enough of this man.

His hands are under my shirt, cupping my breasts. The heat of his palms is an aphrodisiac in itself, but the taste of him on my tongue and the hard ridge of his cock between my legs is what threatens to send me over the edge.

Uncanny – Cover Reveal

TWO SISTERS. ONE DEATH.
NO MEMORIES.

Cora should remember every detail about the night her stepsister, Hannah, fell down a flight of stairs to her death, especially since her Cerepin—a sophisticated brain-computer interface—may have recorded each horrifying moment. But when she awakens after that night, her memories gone, Cora is left with only questions—and dread of what the answers might mean.

When a downward spiral of self-destruction forces Cora to work with an AI counselor, she finds an unexpected ally, even as others around her grow increasingly convinced that Hannah’s death was no accident. As Cora’s dark past swirls chaotically with the versions of Hannah’s life and death that her family and friends want to believe, Cora discovers the disturbing depths of what some people may do—including herself.

Genres: Contemporary, Young Adult

Did you ever want something so much that it felt like a kind of sickness, one you didn’t want to be cured of? On New Year’s Eve the feeling compels seventeen-year-old Amira to text the Irish ex-boyfriend she’s been missing desperately since they broke up at the end of summer, when she returned to Canada.

They agreed they wouldn’t be friends, that it would never be enough. But that was then— back when Amira’s separated parents had shipped her off to relatives in Dublin for the summer so they could test-drive the idea of getting back together on a long haul cruise. Back when Amira was torn away from a friend in need in Toronto only to fall in love with a Dublin screenwriting class and take a step closer to her dream career. And only to fall for cousin Zoey’s bandmate, Darragh, the guy who is first her friend, then her enemy and later something much more complicated—the guy she can say anything to, the guy who makes every inch of her feel wide awake in a way she hadn’t known was possible. The guy she might never see again. Or is there, despite the distance, somehow still a chance for them?

Author Bio:

Long before I was an author I was a fan of books about Winnie the Pooh, Babar, Madeline, Anne Shirley and anything by Judy Blume. Throughout high school my favourite class was English. No surprise, then, that most of my time spent at York University in Toronto was as an English major–not the traditional way to graduate with a B.A. in Film Studies but a fine way to get a general arts education.

After getting my film studies degree I headed for Dublin, Ireland and spent the majority of the nineties there in forgettable jobs meeting unforgettable people and enjoying the buzz. I always thoughts I’d get around to writing in earnest eventually and I began writing my first novel in a flat in Dublin and finished it in a Toronto suburb. By then I’d discovered that writing about young characters felt the freshest and most exciting to me. You have most of your life to be an adult but you only grow up once.

Currently residing near Toronto with my Dub husband, I became an Irish citizen in 2001 and continue to visit Dublin as often as I can. My first young adult book, I Know It’s Over, came out with Random House in September 2008 and was followed by One Lonely Degree, The Lighter Side of Life and Death, My Beating Teenage Heart and Yesterday. I released Yesterday’s sequel, Tomorrow, in 2013 and put out my first adult novel, Come See About Me, as an ebook in June 2012. My most recent YA book, The Sweetest Thing You Can Sing, was published by Cormorant Books’ Dancing Cat Books imprint in 2014 and I’m pleased to announce they’ll be releasing my upcoming contemporary young adult novel, Delicate, on September 16th.
