About the Authors:

Christopher Hansen

The first glimmering Chris Hansen had that there was far more to reality than he had ever imagined occurred six days after his ninth birthday. “Christopher!” cried a wise, old sage. “Life is full of deep magic. Miraculous things happen all the time and all around us, if you know where to look for them.” Full of expectation and childlike optimism, Chris began searching for this magic, prepared to be surprised and amazed by it. And he was: he found Wonder! Now he’s chosen to write stories about it.

J.R. Fehr

When J.R. Fehr popped out of the womb, he knew there was more to the world than the four boring hospital walls that he was seeing. “Zango!” his newborn mind exclaimed as he saw people appear and disappear through a mysterious portal in the wall. As a child he found life wowtazzling, but as he grew older the cold water of reality hit him, and the magic he once knew vanished. After spending some wet and shivering years lost in a joyless wasteland, he once again began to see magic in the world. He writes because the Wonder of true life is far grander than anything he ever thought possible.

But me

Life is in a mess,
Like gutter with wastes,
I feel so inadequate, so inadequate,
Self doubt and insecurities filling me up,
That’s when I see it blazing,
That bridge,
So big, so big,
But on fire,
The Bridge between my dreams and reality,
Extinguisher? Water?
No, nothing can put it off,
Hopelessness fueling it,
Fueling it continually,
No, no, no one can stop this fire,
No one but me,
But me…….

A Country Practice_Blog Tour – Book Review

A COUNTRY PRACTICE
By Judith Colquhoun

BLURB:

A heart-warming, poignant and engaging tale about the doctors, nurses and patients of the Wandin Valley Bush Nursing Hospital, and their friends and neighbours.

A Country Practice follows the dramas, loves, secrets and dilemmas of the people in an Australian small country town. There is romance, humour and tragedy for the medical staff of the local hospital, and the rural community it serves.

A desperate woman arrives at the Wandin Valley Bush Nursing Hospital in the final stages of labour. Can Dr Terence Elliott overcome his demons to save both mother and baby?

Simon Bowen, the newest doctor in town, is frustrated at being seen as an outsider by the tight knit country people. Will he succeed in winning them around ‒ especially young vet Vicky Dean?

Vicky’s mum, Sister Shirley Dean, is courted by widowed police sergeant Frank Gilroy. But is he the man for her?

Young married couple, Brendan and Molly Jones arrive in Wandin Valley. Are they prepared for the realities of country life?

Meanwhile, a teenager in love clashes with her father and a serious car accident reveals a surprising secret about two of the town’s residents.

Based on the award-winning, international hit television serial A Country Practice, this new series of novels follows the lives and loves of the rural community of Wandin Valley, South-Eastern Australia. Set in the early 1980s it is a nostalgic look at country life, yet with all the same joys and problems we face today.

REVIEW

I highly recommend this book. Maybe this is the first time I am doing this, recommending the book in the very first line, because I want you people, all my readers to definitely read this beautiful novel.

This novel tells the story of you, me, us, the ordinary people. You maybe a teenager, a single mother, a single father or a young couple trying to adjust in a new place, you maybe anyone, but I guarantee you, that you will be able to relate to this story, find a piece of your mind, your soul in one of the parts of this awesome novel.

This is Jenny’s story, a 15 year old girl and her father’s, a single dad trying to meet both ends. This is also Terence’s story, a senior doctor, a country GP, he is an expert, a real good person at heart. This is Simon’s story, a young doctor under the shadow of Terence, who is trying to create a influence in this Countryside and not quite managing. Then there is Brendan and Molly’s story, two people trying to adjust in Wandin Valley. Also this is Shirley’s story, a country nurse, Marta’s story, the matron and many others.

From the very first page I was able to relate to all the characters. This story is told through many point of views, the narrator jumps from one person’s head to another and you get a piece of everyone’s mind, what they think, what they feel. Pain, anger, joy, many human emotions are shown through all these characters.

‘‘People are sometimes driven to choices which others find incomprehensible. We have to accept that.”

There were so many beautiful moments in this novel, that I was literally sad when this book ended because I just wanted more, I wanted to live their life a little bit longer.

In mere 220 pages, the author weaved so many different lives and there beautiful stories together. Seriously praiseworthy.

Overall I would say, A Country Practice is a beautifully written novel with well built characters, that I am asking you to buy just now to loose yourself into this heartwarming tale.

Not For You

You inflict pain,
Again and yet again,
Want to see me cry?
Red eyed me?
You want to see the weak me,
Break my rhythm,
Shift me off track?
No you won’t get a chance,
No you won’t.
Because,
I am vulnerable yet strong,
I might cry in the darkness of sky,
But only to relieve me,
To break all bonds with past,
To move on.
But you won’t see me shake,
No you won’t see me budge,
No the weak me is not for you.

Read an Excerpt:

Emily stepped back from him and shook her head. “Oh, you know damn well what I mean. You know what, Derek? I’m done having this conversation with you. I’m so done with this conversation and I’m so done with you,” Emily spat out angrily before brushing past him.

“Emily, wait,” Derek said, catching her by her arm. “Where are you going?”

Emily spun around and gave him a bitter look before looking down at his hand gripping her arm. “Leave my arm,” she said in a low yet threatening voice, “And why do you care where I’m going? It’s none of your business.”

Derek didn’t leave her arm in spite of her warning and said, “Em, you’ve had too many drinks. You can’t drive in this condition. I’ll drop you home.”

Emily jerked her arm free from his grasp and replied in a bitter voice, “Thank you, but no. I’m perfectly capable of getting myself home on my own. I don’t need you to drop me home. Do you get it, Derek Thorpe? I DON’T NEED YOU!” Emily yelled the last words, causing a few people to look their way.
About the Author:

Veronica Thatcher is an exciting new contemporary romance author. Ever since she was very young, she’s dreamed of becoming a doctor when she grew up. While still forging ahead with that, majoring in pre-med in college, she unwittingly stumbled upon a new dream—becoming a published author. Some may call her an introvert or a wallflower, but she has always found she could express herself better in written, rather than spoken, words. However, never in her wildest dreams had she envisioned she would pursue writing as a prospective career, not just a hobby. Her love for writing goes hand-in-hand with her love for a good romance novel—whether it be a feel-good, sweet romance or a dark, suspenseful one. When she’s not studying, reading, or writing, she is usually found blasting her favourite songs, sometimes singing and dancing along to them.  She dabbles in a number of activities, including painting, karate, singing and dancing. She is a huge chocoholic – probably the biggest – and she is an ice-cream junkie too. She considers herself technologically handicapped forever and has no shame in admitting that. She also deems chocolates her boyfriend, Patrick Dempsey the love of her life, and Friends her life!

Her first book, A Way Back Into Love, is slated for release in February 2017, and she hopes readers will enjoy it as much as she enjoyed writing it. You can reach Veronica through Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads, Wattpad and Gmail.

REVIEW

As you lay Sleeping is from my favourite genre Mystery and Thriller so any book I read from this genre, I do it with a lot of expectations and I would say, this book did meet all of them.

Cara’s boyfriend Joe dies the day she and Joe decide to break up. Initially Cara thought that he died due to drug overdose, but the detective in charge is not easily convinced and suspects foul play. Ryan, Cara’s old acquaintance arrives, he befriends Cara again and soon they go on murderer hunting together.

The story is quite unpredictable. The clues that they get are very unlikely ones, something that I had not heard off before. So it kept my interest totally glued to this novel. From the time Cara and Ryan start murderer hunting together, it was really difficult to keep down the novel and I just wanted to keep on turning the pages and read more

“My legs kicked out and my arms flailed as my body                                           plummeted into the water. My breath caught in my throat.”~Cara

I liked both Cara and Ryan’s character. Also another thing I want to say, is that this book also provides an insight into the teen life, their superficial friendships and their desire to fit in. This novel also had a sweet and cute teenage love story, which was another plus point for me, given that I am a person who likes a bit of romance in Mystery novel.

Overall I would say that I don’t have any complaints, this novel is very engaging and I absolutely recommend it to all mystery lovers.

STUCK WITH ME

By Cassandra Piat

Genre
Romantic Comedy

Publisher
Islandgirl Publishing

SYNOPSIS

Can your perspective on life, happiness and love really change in a week?

Molly, known for her unflagging optimism and constant cheeriness, is thrilled to win an all-expenses paid vacation to Mauritius. She packs her camera and a few colourful bikinis and can’t wait to have some fun in the sun. Little does she know there’s a catch.

Adam is a journalist on assignment and his mission is to test Molly’s optimism and see how far she can be pushed before she breaks. Surely it can’t be that hard?

What happens when Molly meets the hilariously cantankerous Adam and finds that she can’t seem to shake him? How will Adam successfully complete his task when faced with Molly’s beautiful smile, quick wit and curvaceous body?

As they bicker their way around the island, Adam and Molly realise that there’s more to each other than meets the eye. An unexpected friendship develops between them which soon turns into much more. But what will happen when Molly learns the truth behind Adam’s trip to Mauritius?

A heartfelt, funny and touching story about life, love, and happiness.

REVIEW

After a lot of different genres of book reviews I am again back with a romance book review, this one goes by the name of Stuck With Me, which is a romantic comedy set in Mauritius.

Adam is a sports journalist, he is asked to write an article for real life feature section of magazines because the usual writer has to leave for her mother’s sudden illness. Molly is chosen as the subject for the article. She is always smiling and Adam had to find out whether she is fundamentally happy, chooses to be happy or just pretends. He has to become the bane of her existence, be cranky and grouchy for the week they were scheduled to spent in Mauritius to see that how far she can keep her happy demeanour.

Molly is always smiling, she always looks at the positive side of everything. She chooses to be happy. But like every normal person she has her set of fears and problems. Her mother is anxious ever since her father died and often suffers from panic attacks, been the only child the responsibility of her mother is totally on her. She sometimes feel overwhelmed by all her problems but she tries to reminds herself of all the things she should be grateful for. I quite liked Molly’s character, she is someone I could take life lessons from. She is positive and strong despite her problems.

“I love catching that exact moment when the groom sets eyes on the bride as she walks into the church; the look of love and emotion passing between the parents as their daughter says her vows; the look of pure delight on a child’s face when opening a present, or even a burst of laughter between friends – perfect moments made everlasting by me . . .”
~Molly

Now coming to Adam he is also a very likeable character. I laughed through his cranky side and loved his friendly and caring side. He was always there to hold Molly tight. He helped her and also understood her when she wanted to take things slow between them.

There were some terribly funny moments especially during the first half of the novel. I laughed a lot throughout this part. But I would like to add that the book was not only funny, there were some really heart warming, intense moments that touched my heart. I absolutely loved Adam and Molly’s love story.

Finally I would like to add that I felt that this book could have been a bit shorter. Not that those extra pages made this novel boring but still it could have been shorter.

Overall I would say that I quite liked Stuck With Me and would surely recommend it to all romance lovers.

EXCERPT:

As my cell phone rings, Tony mumbles that he’s going to grab us a few more beers, and then he disappears into the hallway. I do not recognize the number on the caller ID, but I do know the 215 area code. Philadelphia.

I press the button to answer, and before I can even say hello, a woman on the other end of the line says, “Parker, this is Coach. Mickey wanted me to call personally, so here you go. You’ve got me for all of two minutes and thirteen seconds.”

It takes me a minute to remember the name before I realize it’s Mickey’s girl, Charlotte Coachman. Her voice is so stern and confident, yet she’s exactly what I expected from what I’d heard about her from Mickey and some of her clients. She has made a name for herself in the sports world, and she’s one of the few women who didn’t sleep her way into that position, which is rare in this business.

“Hello to you, too, sweetheart.”

At first, she chuckles, but then her laughter slowly turns into a cackle. “Call me that again, Parker, and watch what happens. Let’s get something straight. I’m not one of your puck bunnies. I have a name. That name is Coach or Charlie, but it sure as hell isn’t sweetheart. You got that?”

This chick is crazy and feisty, and I kind of like it.

“One minute and thirty seconds.” She sounds like she’s chewing glass, the words harsh and painful on the tip of her tongue. “In the interest of saving ourselves the headache, I’ve arranged for my secretary to meet you at the apartment building. Please don’t look at her, smile in her direction, or flirt with her because I’m sick of replacing secretaries. I did you a solid with the Philly deal, so I’d appreciate you doing the same and keeping your hands to yourself.”

She went from intriguing to working my last nerve in a matter of seconds.

“Give me some credit at least. You make me out to be a total creep.”

“That’s not entirely off base, Parker. You seem to have a problem with keeping your pants on—or is it finding them?”

I can hear her covering the phone and chuckling to herself before she returns to being a mega bitch.

Damn those stupid YouTube videos.

“Forty-seven seconds.”

What is her problem?

She’s so uptight, she might snap in half.

“Like I was saying, Kayla will meet you at the building with the keys. If you need food, clothes, whatever, just let her know, and she will have it delivered. I put my ass on the line for you. Please make sure you’re at practice on time.”

“Sure thing, boss lady. Anything else?”

She sighs loudly into the receiver. “No. My cab is here, and I have to hang up. Mickey said you had the address and Kayla’s contact info. Just call her when you arrive. That’s all.”

I’m about to speak when I realize she already hung up on me and without even saying good-bye. I guess she sucks with them as much as I do.

Every second of our phone call replays in my mind as I try to wrap my head around what the hell just happened. It’s not hard to see why Charlotte is Mickey’s favorite agent and close friend. She’s the female version of him.

Author Bio:

Jillian loves Mafia men, sports, bad boys, dirty talkers, strong female characters, and books with plenty of heat, all of which you will find in her books. As a lover of all things bookish, she has a serious book hoarding problem and runs a book blog in her free time. When she’s not reading, writing, or blogging, she’s obsessively fangirling over hockey players and can be found wherever she can catch the next hockey game.

Of Life, Death, Aliens And Zombies_Blog Tour-Book Review

OF LIFE, DEATH, ALIENS AND ZOMBIES

By Dario Cannizzaro

SYNOPSIS

Misnomer on purpose, this amazing debut rocks nine short and amusing stories – a Zombie Apocalypse without zombies; the Vatican announcing contact with Aliens; a heroin junkie that loves poetry; a timeless love, and much more.

Ordinary characters facing extraordinary situations, dry humor, philosophical musing dressed as whimsical, offhand commentary, and a fairy-tale like writing; those are the key elements of the style of this funny and thought-provoking collection.

The collection comprehends three previously published stories (“The Galway Review”, “Trigger Warning”, “Two Thousand Words” and “Chantwood Magazine”); five new unpublished pieces; and for the first time in English, the best-selling story “Impurità”, which was Selected Work in 2012 by Apple iBooks.

REVIEW

Of Life, Death Aliens and Zombies is a collection of  9 short stories, all quite different but gives away a bit of lesson about human nature.

As because it’s a collection of 9 short stories so I would like to tell a bit about every story. Don’t worry I won’t give out the plot much because it would be better that way. I would preferably tell you the feelings left by it.

The first story goes by the name of Yet Another Zombie Apocalypse.

This story made me laugh a lot.

Going by the name, this story might seem to have a paranormal angle, but I must tell you this story was no way a paranormal story because the narrator never saw a single zombie. This story is definitely not about zombies. It’s a story of Survival in hard times, how internet goes buzzing over stuff that may not be true and people easily believing it.

The second story is Bathroom Love.

One of favourites. It’s a Story of loneliness, pain, betrayal. It’s very beautiful and also had one of my favorites qoutes of this book.

“Because after all you can love sex, despise sex, loathe sex, crave sex, but sex is nothing on its own, sex is just about connecting, just about feeling each other’s soul, just for a moment there, to know you’re not alone.”

The third story is The Name of the Rose

Yet another very beautiful and different story. It is a kind of memoir, the narrator remembering the time he was fifteen. That year changed a lot for him. He bunked classes to go to a book shop where he learnt a lot about life. Things changed, times changed but the impression of different incidents of that time left with him.

The fourth one The Announcement

Sorry this one is my least favourite but I must say it’s still very beautiful. It was quite unpredictable, a story that held my suspense. The underlying message: the showing off, boastful nature of humans. In this story each country was trying show how they are superior than the other.

The fifth story The Best Place To Plan a Mass Shooting.

This was yet another hilarious tale. Very enjoyable. This is also a memoir. The narrator wrote a story in it, which had elements that were not acceptable to his principal or other teachers of his school. Though he himself was quite proud of it.

Next one Summer’s Ended

Another beautiful story. It’s a story of loneliness and human desires.

The seventh one Fake plastic trees

This was definitely my favourite. This story tells how we all are a living lie. We are good at pretending and what we think and what we tell are sometimes completely different. We all are trying to paint a picture of ourselves that would be likable to others even if we ourselves hate it.

The eight story Terrorism Marketing

This is another funny and hilarious tale. This story tells about a time when the narrator was able to escape terrorists by bluffing them.

The last one Inpurita

This story was longer than others. It’s a tale of unfulfilled desires and it’s repercussions. Four different people with different backgrounds came together for few hours, and these few hours change their lives.

“So while Lukas was reading that thing in his hands, he also read about himself, about someone thirty-three years old, thirty-three years of non-life, all accompanied by the hand of destiny – someone else’s dreams, someone else’s life, someone else’s desires.”

Overall I would say that I loved each and every story of this collection. All the stories were well written and I would recommend this book to everyone. Because the tales are from different genres so this book would, I believe would suit everyone.
